The Canadian Wildlife Service has identified the Walker Hook tombolo on Salt Spring Island as a sensitive ecosystem area that should not be disturbed.  Sablefin Hatcheries Ltd. is currently constructing a hatchery within the Walker Hook tombolo area that will release release large quantities of waste water and effluents into the wetlands and the marine environment.  For more information, please click on the hyperlink and read the letter from the Canadian Wildlife Service.
